AGRIFRUT:
THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE
In 1988 AGRIFRUT
Romagna was founded as a consortium to produce and market
fruit and vegetables by merging four consolidated companies
in the Romagna region. Since the beginning of 1993 it
changed into a co-operative continuing to expand and
merge with other national co-operatives.
The initial aim was to rationalise the presence of
different co-operative groups, in order to avoid competition
amongst them. They did this by managing common investments
and specialising each structure production, by trading
together to make them stronger in a market which was
becoming more and more demanding and more aware of quality.
AGRIFRUT Romagna together with other co-operatives
makes part of an association called APOCONERPO,
which deals in the co-ordination of production, and
also makes part of NATURITALIA
whose role is to evaluate and market the products.
Following the growth of the market and taking the opportunity
offered from a larger and organised distribution, AGRIFRUT
have set up and been able to run a platform, through
the help of the company
SGS (SGS, witch has been successively incorporated into
AGRIFRUT), to complete the production range which
could not be supplied by APOCONERPO’S
members, giving way to produce with references
even off-season.
In this perspective AGRIFRUT Romagna and SGS have been
the first companies to develop in the organic sector
creating their own label BORGOSOLE
BIO.
From the very beginning AGRIFRUT Romagna has always
focused on the production and productivity chain, the
valorisation on the process and production quality,
an active participation by members, and keeping an eye
on client orientation.
This philosophy is continuously put into practice and
shown in the service quality, sustained from the development
of the quality system certification (UNI
EN ISO 9001:2000, UNI 10939 Standard BRC).
The
diagram above shows the large capacity of the Agrifrut
Group.
The
process of company reorganisation has led Agrifrut to
specialise in its processing and transport in its four
warehouses. The warehouse which is situated in
Gambettola is dedicated to processing products
destined towards Italian Large Scale Distribution, while
Cesena and S.Agata
specialise in processing products for centre Northern
Europe export and for the traditional Italian market.
The warehouse in Forlì aims on the production
directed towards the English and Swiss market.
This set-up allows Agrifrut to satisfy the needs of
different typologies on the market which also allows
to keep down the costs towards customer services, to
create that typical AGRIFRUT philosophy regarding business
and customer service, which goes all towards making
it highly specialised for each customer.
